Latharian
The leopard strain and the climbers. "A lean, yet muscular leopard strain, with black dots. They are typically tall and have extreme athletic abilities." Six to six and a half feet and the leanest build in the species, all reach and spring.
They climb anything and they carry weight up it, and the warden societies use them on the high tiers and the tower work. Outside the prisons they are acrobats, couriers, cat burglars and assassins.
Body
Lean and long, black dotted over a tawny coat, narrow through the chest and enormous in the reach. Six to six and a half feet. The claws that cost every other Lathonian a needle and a page are an asset here and are the only place in the species where the hand is unambiguously worth having.
Society
In the holds they work the high tiers and the towers, where a fall is the discipline and nobody else will go. Outside them they are the only Lathonians with a professional reputation for discretion, which the rest of the species finds faintly disreputable in a people whose entire faith is about announcing what everyone owes.
Tongue
Their name is sometimes borrowed as a house style by the Grass Riders of Ikarma, who are Lasai and not Latharian at all. The leopard keeps the name. Anyone matching a picture to a strain should read the animal and not the word: dots on a lean tall frame is Latharian, and a masked rider on a white and black horse is Lasai whatever the roll of the company calls him.
