Terms of service
Last updated: 30 September 2026
These terms are the rules for using the PyreTale website, playing on the PyreTale game server and, once it opens, buying from the store. By using any of them you agree to these terms, so please read them, and if you are under 18, read them with a parent or guardian.
Who we are
PyreTale is a community game server for Hytale, based in British Columbia, Canada, with its website at www.pyretale.com. Its owner and operator is Alexander J Baxter, operating as PyreTale, and a small team runs the server day to day.
In these terms, "you" means anyone who uses the website or plays on the server, and "we", "us" and "our" mean Alexander J Baxter, operating as PyreTale.
PyreTale is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Hypixel Studios. Hytale is a game by Hypixel Studios, and the Hytale name and game belong to Hypixel Studios.
Using the website
The website is free, and you do not need an account to use it. You need one only for a player page of your own, and to write on the forum. Our privacy policy explains what it collects and what it shows about players.
When you use the website, do not:
- try to break into, overload or disrupt the website, the relay (at www.pyretale.com/api and api.pyretale.com) or the live map at map.pyretale.com
- try to get into another player's account, or to see another player's private figures
- send automated requests fast enough to slow the website or the relay down
- use what the website or the live map shows, such as when someone was last online or where they are in the world, to harass, follow or target anyone
- break the law
The website links to services we do not run, such as Hytale, Discord and YouTube. Their own terms apply there, and we are not responsible for them.
We may change, pause or remove any part of the website at any time.
The game server and the Rules
Playing on PyreTale is free. To play, you need your own Hytale account, and Hytale's own terms apply to you as well as these.
The game address takes you to the Hub. From there you can go to the Empires side, which is open to everyone, or to the MMORPG side, which is open only to players on its whitelist while it is being built.
When you play on PyreTale, you agree to follow the Rules. They are part of these terms, and we do not repeat them here.
If you break the Rules, our staff may warn you, mute you, limit what you can do, or ban you, for a time or for good. Appeals are heard in our Discord and in the forum's Appeals category.
PyreTale is in Early Access. The game can have bugs, go offline or change without warning, and progress can be lost. We may reset, change or close any world on PyreTale. We announce planned resets in our Discord in advance.
Your character, your progress and everything in the game, including coin and items, are part of the game. You do not own them, and they have no value outside it. Selling or trading any of them for real money, or for anything outside the game, is against the Rules and against Hytale's own terms.
Player pages and accounts
- A player page exists only once the player creates an account, by typing /link in the game and bringing the code to Sign up.
- Each character has one page, and only the person who plays that character may create an account for it.
- Do not create, or try to create, an account for anyone else's character. Never ask another player for their code or their password, and never use a code that someone else gave you. If you think someone else has used your code or got into your account, type /unlink and tell us.
- You can remove your own page at any time by typing /unlink in the game, or by deleting your account on the Account page.
- We may remove any player page or account, or refuse one, at any time, for example if an account was created by the wrong person, if it is being used to break the Rules, or if a parent or guardian asks us to.
- Settlement pages and leaderboards show every player, whether or not they have an account. The privacy policy explains what they show and how to ask to be taken off.
- Pages show a copy of the game's records that can be a few minutes old, incomplete or occasionally wrong. If a page and the game disagree, the game is right.
The forum
The forum at www.pyretale.com/forum is part of the website. These terms and the Rules apply there as they do in the game. Anyone can read its open categories. To write, react, report or send private messages, you need an account with your character attached, and everything you do there is shown as that character.
On the forum, do not:
- post anything that breaks the Rules or the law
- post someone else's personal information, such as their real name, where they live or a photograph of them, without their agreement
- post writing, art or images that are not yours to share
- post advertising or spam, or links meant to mislead
- pretend to be a member of the team or another player
- use private messages, reactions or reports to harass anyone, or report in bad faith
- use another account to get round a ban
What you post. What you write and upload stays yours, and you are responsible for it. By posting it, you allow us to show it on the forum and elsewhere on the website, including in the forum's search, feeds and sitemap, and to keep it as our privacy policy describes. Search engines can find what is posted in the open categories.
Editing and deleting. You can edit a post for a day after posting it, and delete it for an hour, while its thread is open. After that, ask the team. Deleting the first post of a thread deletes the whole thread, as long as nobody has replied. A deleted post is kept for 30 days, seen only by the team, before it goes for good.
Moderation. To keep the forum within the Rules, the team may edit, move, lock, pin, rename or delete posts and threads, and take down uploaded images. They may also warn you, or ban you from the forum for a time or for good. A ban on the forum stops you posting, reacting, reporting, uploading and sending private messages. You can still read the forum, and you can start one appeal in its Appeals category and reply in it. A ban on the forum is separate from a ban in the game. For serious or repeated breaches, we may take a player off the website altogether: they are signed out wherever they are signed in, their member page closes, and their posts show as those of a withdrawn member.
Reports, blocks and private messages. If something on the forum breaks the Rules, report it rather than answering it, once: the same report sent again within a day counts as the first. The team sees who sent a report, and the member reported is not told. Private messages are between the members in them, but the team is shown a message when someone in the conversation reports it. You can block a member so that they cannot message or quote you. You cannot block the team, because they have to be able to reach you.
Images. Upload only images you have the right to share. We take out location and camera details before we keep a JPEG, PNG or WebP image, as the privacy policy explains. A GIF is kept as it is, so check it before you upload it. Anyone who has an image's address can open it. Images kept anywhere but on this website, Discord and Imgur are shown as links.
Limits. The forum limits how often each account can start threads, post, report, upload, react and search, so that it stays usable for everyone. When you reach a limit, it says how long to wait.
We may change, pause or close any part of the forum, or all of it, at any time.
The store, once it opens
The store is not open yet. Everything in this section applies only once it opens and you buy something. We will review this section before the store opens.
What we sell
- The store sells cosmetics, ways to show who you are, conveniences, access to lore and recognition. Everything it sells is digital.
- Premium Membership costs USD 5.99 a month or USD 59.90 a year. The monthly and yearly memberships are separate packages, and each one renews until you cancel it. A membership belongs to one player, not to one character: it covers every character on that player's account, and it cannot be moved to another account.
- There are five founding tiers, each a one-time purchase: Acolyte (USD 10), Sworn (USD 50), Knight (USD 100), Lord-Captain (USD 500) and Sovereign (USD 1,000). They are on sale until the day PyreTale enters full release, and are then retired for good.
- One-off items are added as we make them: cosmetic packs, seasonal items, founder's relics, and memorial and oath registrations.
- Founding tiers, and anything else the store calls a donation, are purchases of digital goods and recognition. They are not gifts to charity, and no tax receipt is issued.
- The Store page shows what each item includes, and whether it is permanent or lasts for a set time, before you pay.
What affects gameplay, and what we never sell
Some perks affect gameplay: extra inventory slots, portal links, double the usual limit on land claims and a monthly allowance of gold. The Store page labels every item that includes one of them as affecting gameplay.
We never sell:
- boosts to experience (XP) or to drop rates
- faster crafting
- higher stats, or bonuses to damage or health
- exclusive zones, dungeons, quests or bosses
- anything that affects fights between players (PvP)
- ways to skip waiting times in competitive content
- loot crates, or anything else with a random result
- anything that affects another player without their consent
In-game gold can never be cashed out or exchanged for real money.
Who can buy
You must be 16 or over to buy, because Tebex, which handles payment, does not sell to anyone younger. If you are under the age of adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian must also agree to your purchases.
Payment
Tebex handles every payment as the merchant of record. That means Tebex takes the payment, collects tax where it applies and shows you the total before you pay, and Tebex's own terms apply to the payment as well as these. Refunds, when they are owed, are issued through Tebex.
Delivery
Purchases are delivered to the in-game name you give at checkout: in the game, the next time that player is on PyreTale, and on the website for anything shown there. Check the name before you pay. If something does not arrive, contact us.
Refunds and cancelling
- Once a billing period of Premium Membership has begun, the payment for that period is final.
- You can cancel Premium Membership at any time, with the cancel button in any email Tebex sends you or on Tebex's payment history page. Cancelling stops the next charge, and your perks continue until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Donations and one-off purchases, including founding tiers, are final.
- Founding tiers cannot be transferred or reassigned to another account.
- Server downtime, a change of owner or the closure of the server does not entitle anyone to a refund.
- If something you bought never arrives, or does not work as described, tell us and we will deliver it, fix it or refund you.
- To ask for a refund, email pyretale.admin@gmail.com with your order id, the email address you used at checkout, your in-game name and the reason. We will answer within 14 days.
- Refunds go back to the way you paid. Anything refunded is removed from your account.
- Any refund the law requires, including under EU and UK consumer rights, is always honoured.
Chargebacks
Please contact us before you go to your bank or card provider. If you reverse a payment through them (a chargeback), or open any other payment dispute, without contacting us first, you will be removed from all PyreTale services: the game server, our Discord and the website. We will also remove what you bought.
No real-money trading
You may not sell, buy or trade anything from the store or the game, including accounts, items and coin, for real money or for anything outside the game. The store is the only place to buy. Trading for real money is also against the Rules and against Hytale's own terms.
Bans
A permanent ban for breaking the Rules forfeits purchases, which means you lose them and get no refund. A temporary ban pauses them until it ends.
Resets and closure
We announce planned resets in our Discord in advance. If a world is reset, cosmetics stay with you where the game allows it. If the server closes for good, purchases end with it.
Your rights as a consumer
Wherever you live, if the law gives you rights as a consumer that go further than this section, you keep them, and nothing here takes them away. If you live in the EU or the UK, you keep your statutory rights.
Content and intellectual property
- The PyreTale name and logos, the world of Nu with its lore and the names in it, the Codex, the website's text, art and design, the PyreTale mods and the rest of the game content made for this server belong to Alexander J Baxter, or, where a team member's own work is credited to them, to that team member. Please do not copy them without asking, except as the Press and Creators page allows.
- Hytale, its name, its game and its assets belong to Hypixel Studios.
- Your screenshots and videos of your own play belong to you, and you are free to use them. If you use our trailer, logos or Codex art, credit PyreTale.
- What you write and upload on the forum stays yours, as the section on the forum explains.
- What you build in the world, and the names you use in the game, such as your in-game name, your settlement's name, motto and titles, and your shops' names, can appear on the live map and on the website, including the settlement pages. By playing, you allow us to show them. Keep them within the Rules.
No guarantees, and limits on our liability
PyreTale is a small, independent project, and we provide the website, the forum, the relay, the live map, the game server and, once it opens, the store as they are. We do not promise that they will always be available, free of bugs, secure against every attack or accurate, or that progress and data will never be lost.
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for:
- losses caused by downtime, bugs, resets or lost progress
- anything other players do or say
- services we do not run, such as Hytale, Discord, YouTube and Google Fonts
- losses we could not reasonably have expected
If we are responsible for a loss, the most we will pay is the amount you spent in the store in the 12 months before it happened, or 50 Canadian dollars, whichever is more.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited or excluded, for example for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for your statutory rights as a consumer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of British Columbia will deal with any dispute about them. If you are a consumer who lives somewhere else, you keep the protection of the consumer laws where you live, and you may be able to bring a claim in your own local courts.
If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most problems can be put right quickly.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example before the store opens or when the game changes. When we do, we will change the date at the top, and for important changes we will post in our Discord and on the News page before they take effect. If you keep using the website or playing after a change, the new terms apply to you. A change never applies to a purchase you made before it.
