Nakmor
The heaviest Nakasi, at the top of the height and broader with it, in whom an old Lathonian blood has surfaced through the Alverian strain: the upper canines grow long, curved and bare, past the lip, and cannot be hidden. A Nakmor is one in fifty.
They are the crews' enforcers and the only Nakasi a Nu'uman watchman will step aside for, and they know it.
Body
Hairless like the rest, and larger than the rest, with the weight through the shoulder that a street people otherwise has no use for. The teeth are the line. They grow all its life and must be worn down against bone or they will pierce the lower jaw, which is why a Nakmor is always chewing something and why the crews keep them supplied with knuckle ends.
The teeth are also honed. A Nakmor's bite is its oath and its threat both, in a people whose ordinary oath is a claw drawn across a forearm and whose ordinary threat is a rotten one.
Society
They collect. A Nakmor is what stands behind a collector on a fixed round, and in a quarter where the crew must tax every day because the body cannot wait a week, the enforcer is not an occasional instrument but part of the weekly arithmetic. The watch steps aside for them, and the line has built a manner out of being stepped aside for.
Their custom is the show: a Nakmor goes without the hood, having no need to lie. In a people who hood themselves precisely because the ears cannot be made to lie, that is the loudest thing a Nakasi can say about itself without speaking.
Frailty
A neglected Nakmor dies of its own mouth by forty. The canines never stop growing and nothing in the body stops them, so the whole life becomes a maintenance problem that the crew solves or does not.
Beyond that the ordinary Nakasi catalogue applies and applies harder for the size: no fat, no fur, and a metabolism that fails at three days without food and kills at six, carried on a frame that eats more than any other in the quarter.
