Boalpa
Wise sages of the tropics, peaceful, of "an honest and stern pacifism." They fight from techniques of self defence, using the complex jungles to their advantage "while forcing persons to hurt themselves." Their faces carry heavy furred whiskers and are often adorned with raw gemstones braided into thin soft fur.
The Boalpa are the branch of the species that heard the origin, believed it, and stopped. Their whole culture is an answer to the trapping encampments, and the forest-whispering is what they do instead of tracking.
Body
Six and a half feet, broad and slow-moving, and lighter than a northern Boalden for all the breadth. Heavy furred whiskers across the face, with raw uncut gemstones braided into the thin soft fur of the cheek and jaw. "Forest whispering; calling on their Irugaine DNA, they can communicate with the forest."
A hundred and thirty to two hundred and thirty years, the longest-lived of the people by a wide margin, which is most of the reason the clans of the Wilderlands go to them for judgement.
Society
They keep no traplines, they set no traps at all, and they eat almost no meat. They are on speaking terms with the Irugaine, which no other Boalden is. The clans of the Wilderlands find them insufferable and go to them for judgement anyway, and a Boalpa hearing takes as long as it takes.
Faith
They keep Irus of the Wild as every Boalden does and they keep the Shepherd face of him foremost, which is exactly the inversion the Boalar made in the other direction. Their pacifism is honest and stern rather than gentle: they will not set, they will not hunt, and they will put a man on the jungle floor using nothing but the jungle and his own weight.
